Iron Trap Model A Shop Truck: The Exhaust Is Too Loud! Building Baffles At Home From Scrap.

The first drive on a new project is always nerve-racking and super exciting! It doesn’t need to go perfect to be awesome, but when things go right it certainly can be the thing you need to pull all the last little bits together to finish a project. Sometimes the little stuff is the stuff that takes forever to make a reality, so the test drive is good motivation. What’s funny though is that as you keep driving a new project, while getting the bugs worked out, stuff that didn’t bother you at first will as the project gets closer to completion. Things like an exhaust that is just a bit too loud to be fun.

In this video, that loud exhaust gets a home brewed fix.

This project is coming along and I can’t wait to see it done! The Model A Shop Truck project has been going hot and heavy for months, and the boys have really been making awesome headway on it, but it has never been this close to being a driver! Recent episodes of the build had headers being built, wiring getting done, a fuel system, and ultimately making the flat head run for the first time in the chassis. It also got a coat of paint on the front bits to match the super good patina on the bed. I’m super stoked to see this project running down the road and to see the guys with parts stacked up in the back.

Because so much of this project was built from spare parts, or junk that they modified, it really is neat to see what you can build without a bunch of super nice high dollar parts. I dig it, and I know you guys have too.

Video Description:

After taking the 1929 Ford RPU for a few test drives, Matt felt the exhaust is to loud! Instead of buying a set of slip in baffles like we have used in the past, Matt has decided to build his own from some scraps kicking around the shop. Using some scrap pipe, and some driveshaft pieces, the baffles area ready to slip in and take it for a test drive!!
