Single Seat Race Car Build Part 18: It’s DONE!!! Introducing The Midnight Special. Watch It Run!

This episode of the Single Seat Race Car build is awesome because it’s done! Yes, the Midnight Special is going for its maiden voyage and is off and running! We’ll show you the video from its first race outing in the next day or two, but here it is in all its glory!

Bennett’s Customs is an Australian traditional hot rod builder that does some pretty cool car and motorcycle projects, and they have embarked on a new project that must be done by September in order to go racing at the Perkolilli Red Dust Revival. This is a single-seat race car build, like one that you would have seen in the 1940s and they are building it from a mix of scratch-made parts, stuff that has been sitting around collecting dust, and some more traditional parts they will no doubt be wheeling and dealing for. If you are into traditional rides, like those we feature from Iron Trap Garage, then you are going to dig what they are doing here. I’m intrigued, and inspired, by projects like this because we all tend to make projects that are so complicated and big that they take forever. If instead, we worked on some smaller projects, maybe we could get more of them done.

This project here is no lightweight with regards to the work required since they are doing this all from scratch, but it sure looks like it is going to be a fun one and we can’t wait to watch it come together.

Two weeks leading up to the event was a complete blur. The name ‘midnight Special’ came easy after 10 days of sleepless nights grinding to get the race car and bike finished. It was tough to film certain things and tutorials with the date fast approaching but we did the best we could. This episodes give a brief look into the chaos that was prior to packing up and heading north. Stay tuned for next weeks full coverage of the Red Dust Revival 2022 at Lake Perkolilli 42km NE of Kalgoorlie WA. See you in the dust.

Check Out This 6×6 Engesa EE-25 Army Truck And It’s Freaky Boomerang Rear Suspension In Action

Army trucks, we love them. Why? Well for the same reason we love functional hot rods that are lacking in amenities but are heavy in ass kicking ability. No matter the country of origin you are typically not going to find a lot of cushy stuff in an army truck, especially a large one.
