Hemi Swapped C10 Build Part 6: First Start Attempt! Will It Actually Run In Time?

Here is Part 6 of the Gen III HEMI C10 build that Derek has dubbed the HemiHalf. It’s “together” but will it start and run so it can go to Moparty?

It’s been torn apart, mocked up, torn apart, and put back together to where it’s almost a finished truck. But will it be done in time for the Moparty event that is actually going on right this minute? It’s going to be a thrash to get it done, but Derek is a man who doesn’t stop. Watch.

The thought process here is that every conceivable vehicle on earth has already been LS swapped, so we need to start switching it up, and what better way to do that than to stuff a Gen III HEMI into a square body Chevrolet pickup that would have come with a small block Chevrolet most likely. After all, square-body GM trucks are prime candidates for LS swaps and it seems like it is getting harder and harder to find them with a small or big block still in them at any car shows and events.

I happen to love LS engines, but I own both small block and big block powered rides as well. I’m what you call an equal-opportunity GM power fanatic. But putting a HEMI into a square-body? Hmmmmm. Is Derek going too far?

You know he’s doing this as much because it’s simple as he is because it will piss people off.

Helmet Sale: Simpson And Racequip Are On Sale Now! Quit Using A Crap Helmet.

I just got back from Holley’s LSFest West in Las Vegas and the number of people who are racing, or trying to race, wearing crappy helmets, or those that are NOT designed to be used in a car or truck, still blows me away. It gets better all the time, but even so, we need more people to do the right thing for themselves and buy a good helmet. I remember when I got my first helmet that was actually bought for me to use while racing cars. It was awesome. It fit better than anything I’d ever borrowed, and it was mine. I loved it. I have had several helmets since, but regardless of my budget, I’ve always bought a helmet that is specifically made for racing cars and is certified for doing so.
