2022 Holley Hot Rod Reunion – A Lifelong Love Affair With This 1970 Ford Torino GT

I’m a guy that has his car tattooed on his body, in fact I have three of my cars tattooed on my body. But I realize this isn’t the norm and that means you have to have a special kind of relationship with, and a special kind of commitment to, your car if you actually do have a tattoo of it. Such is the case with Don McLain, who has this awesome 1970 Torino, a car that he’s owned since 1971 and that has been through a few different iterations over the years. This newest one is pretty badass and the gang at Holley caught up with him at the 2022 National Hot Rod Reunion to see what this ride was all about.

It takes a special kind of commitment to a car to have it tattooed onto your arm! “Dyno” Don McLain has owned this 1970 Torino GT since 1971 and he’s not letting it go anytime soon. In it’s most recent build, the Ford was treated to a 545ci big-block, Sniper EFI, and a toned-down paint job that looks a mile deep.

Helmet Sale: Simpson And Racequip Are On Sale Now! Quit Using A Crap Helmet.

I just got back from Holley’s LSFest West in Las Vegas and the number of people who are racing, or trying to race, wearing crappy helmets, or those that are NOT designed to be used in a car or truck, still blows me away. It gets better all the time, but even so, we need more people to do the right thing for themselves and buy a good helmet. I remember when I got my first helmet that was actually bought for me to use while racing cars. It was awesome. It fit better than anything I’d ever borrowed, and it was mine. I loved it. I have had several helmets since, but regardless of my budget, I’ve always bought a helmet that is specifically made for racing cars and is certified for doing so.
