Part 2: Iron Trap Blown Flathead Powered Jalopy Shop Truck Build

Here is the second segment in the shop truck build and it really is starting to look like something. The axles are going together, which is taking some work since this thing is being built from extra parts they have laying around, and more. I am excited to see this project come together. Check it out.

The more I watch Iron Trap videos the more I want to build a 1920-1940 hot rod. They seem so simple and bare-bones if you want them to be and that means that you can put one together pretty quickly if you have the right parts and pieces laying around. Since the Iron Trap gang does, this cool shop truck project should be pretty simple and straight forward for them to get up and running. It’s especially nice since it is going to be a shop truck and not something that has to be super clean and finished when done.

That doesn’t mean it won’t be cool though! Check out video one of this project. There is more to come and you’ll dig it.

Video Description:

With the old frame rolled out of the shop, it’s time to build the front and rear suspension. For the front Matt pulls a drop axle off the wall and gets a set of round back spindles set up with new king pin bushing. With the steering arms heated and bent, Matt gets bungs welded into the wishbones to get them set up as split bones. The rear axle will eventually get a shortened torque tube and drive shaft, but until the engine and trans is installed it wont be needed. We love the way the RPU looks with the new suspension under it, and we can’t wait to install the blown flathead!!
