Everyone that I know who has a blasting cabinet has one of two thoughts when it comes to theirs. One is that it is the greatest thing they ever bought for the shop, and two is that it sucks but it’s a life saver a few times a year so it is worth the headache. These drastically differing opinions on this ultra handy tool are directly related to the cost of the cabinet and blasting equipment in most cases. But what do you do if you are a broke car guy like us? The answer is to take your $150 blasting cabinet and give it some love so it works like one of the expensive units. Sound difficult? Not really, here’s how.

In this video you are going to see a father and son duo tackle their brand new Harbor Freight blasting cabinet and improve it’s lighting, sealing, visibility, and blasting performance with some simple, but effective, modifications. You could do everything they are doing in a day and it looks like this makes the cheap cabinet into something worth having in your shop. Army trucks, we love them. Why? Well for the same reason we love functional hot rods that are lacking in amenities but are heavy in ass kicking ability.
