Italian Concerto: Watch And Listen To This Freshly Rebuilt Ferrari Dino V6 Go To Work On The Dyno

Image
This is a neat video that’s frankly a little bit unexpected. Why? The FullBoos guys make awesome content but we’re just used to seeing crazy horsepower, drag racing stuff, and more hot rodder content than this artistically made and very well done look at a 2.5L Ferrari Dino V6 being run in on the engine dyno at Australia’s Dandy Engines. The Dino is an interesting car because there’s a group of people who don’t even consider it a real Ferrari. We can’t claim to care enough to get into all of that but because the Dino was made to be a “mass market” car, some things were done differently in terms of its design and construction. What we are concentrating on here is the engine from a Dino that has been rebuilt and freshened at Dandy Engines and is now being run on the dyno to make sure all the stuff is right and that it is delivering the scheduled amount of horsepower that it should. In this case we’re talking about 190hp from the factory and a torque number right around 175 lb-ft. This i...

Super Cool Footage of the Dragmaster B/FX Dodge Sweptline Drag Truck and Killer Tape of the Little Red Wagon

Image
One of the neatest and least well known B/FX racers in drag racing history belonged to a California DJ named Dick Boynton. His drag strip weapon of choice was a 1963 Dodge Sweptline truck that went by a couple of names. In the video below you will see it lettered up as the Dragmaster Ram Truck. It was also known as, “The Flying Barn Door”. Sporting a Max Wedge engine, lots of chassis work, reportedly a tailgate either made of or full of lead, and a steep rear gear, this truck ran deep into the 12s and actually won class at the Winternationals in 1963 (at that point running bottom 13s.) The win was interesting as Boynton actually was the class runner up falling short in the final but the winner failed tech inspection as the was running too much compression in the engine of his car, giving Boynton the win be DQ. The truck had an automatic transmission and obviously wore slicks out back. Every now and again you’ll see still photos of it or an anecdote here or there but we have never seen...

Bonneville History Video: Watch Craig Breedlove Talk About The Rocket LSR Car That Never Was…Or Was It?

Image
Here’s a cool piece of Bonneville history caught on video as Craig Breedlove talks about the rocket powered LSR car he was planning to construct in the early 1970s to keep ahead of an ever escalating “arms race” against the likes of Gary Gabelich and others. Breedlove states in the interview that the car he was planning to build would be capable of breaking the sound barrier on land, a feat that took another couple of decades to actually complete. We’re not saying that in a mocking tone, because we have incredible respect for Craig Breedlove, but just as a statement of fact. It was a BIG deal when Andy Green did it back in 1997. Back to the video. The car was going to be constructed on a tight schedule in the Salt Lake City area and we think it is pretty cool when Breedlove is asked how fast he will go and he basically says that he’ll go as fast as he needs to. That’s a great answer to the question. It is also clear that at this time Breedlove was feeling pressure from others who had ...

800hp, 10,000lbs of Downforce, and Looks To Kill – Ride Along In The 1991 Corvette Intrepid RM-1

Image
Walking the ragged edge of technology is what racing is about. Making decisions on how to design strengths into your race car and minimize weaknesses is also what racing is about. The 1991 Corvette Intrepid RM-1 did both of those things in very interesting ways and while it never lived up to its full potential in terms of podium appearances and race wins, it stands as a true monster of the road racing world. This was an 800hp car that was designed to be a downforce making hero. It could create as much as 10,000lbs of downforce which meant that it had the highest cornering speeds in the IMSA world in the early 1990s. Nothing could touch it in the bends but on the straights? On the straights it was a bit of a weakling because of the same reason it was so good in the corners. The car was conceived and designed by Bob and Bill Riley. Their thinking was that this car would be an IMSA racer only and the fact that IMSA ran at mostly shorter tracks meant that putting a higher emphasis on ...

Wild Video: Watch Kenny Brack Race A GT40 In the Rain – Some Of The Most Amazing Driving Footage EVER

Image
While Kenny Brack is retied from full-time racer driver mode, he still races a lot and he serves as the chief test driver for McLaren so it isn’t like the former Indy 500 winner and IndyCar champ is sitting around the twiddling his thumbs. This being said, the guy is tack sharp still behind the wheel and this amazing video is the proof behind that statement. This is Brack racing a GT40 around the Goodwood road course and doing so in a soaking rain. The car wants to head in every direction except the one it is supposed to be going in and Brack’s work to keep it on course while other GT40s are literally headed off into the grass ahead of him is insane. Assuming that this car is close to “period”or is perhaps an actual GT40 that was constructed in the 1960s, we’re getting a pretty good look at what racing one of these things in the rain was when it was new! This is not a GT40 that has bee wildly modified with more power, more advanced suspension, etc. Nope, this is a lock, stock, and bar...
